Aila & the Queen

This project was for a picture book I was developing based on a story I used to tell my baby daughter. One day I decided I could draw some scenes so she could really picture what I was telling her. From there, it was a small step to transforming the whole thing into a picture book. I studied the characters and how I would retell the story for a broader public, working on the scenes little by little. When I had everything, I began working on the first images so the publisher could see what I was imagining for the final product. I sent the material to them and got a quick response. After a Zoom meeting, he convinced me that the story would be much better if targeting an older audience and, instead of a picture book, we should move to something more like a comic book. I rather liked the idea, since now I can make it much more like I pictured in my head, and giving me more storytelling freedom. So what I´m showing here is the original idea while I moved on to working on a more complex story. Hope you like it!
